    Hammer classic, but restoration is only good, not great.

    Classic Hammer film that paved the way for more Hammer films. Unfortunately, the restoration of this movie isn't as great as reviewers made it out to be. Though it has been cleaned up and was restored from 4K source, it's not a jaw-dropping transfer like some movies made around that time period, like Vertigo, North by Northwest, Ten Commandment, and Lawrence of Arabia made three years later. Still, compared to the one that ran on TV Sunday afternoons, it's a major improvement. If you're a big Hammer fan, then this is a must. The special features are worth the purchase alone.

    Good First Film

    A nice start to the Hammer Frankenstein series. Not the best but the 2nd film, Revenge Of Frankenstein, is the best in the series and one of the best Frankenstein films ever.
