A light and frothy story with Gerard Philipe and Gina Lollobrigida
This movie was made in 1952, so it is difficult to judge by nowadays standards. It is in black and white, very well restored, in French with English subtitles. The movie is light and frothy with a lot of swashbuckling and horse back riding. I am a big Gerard Philipe fan, the hero of the movie, so I definitely got my money's worth out of it. This DVD also includes a short documentary narrated by Philipe's daughter and his biographer.

Awesome for the time period! (1952)
I saw this flick when I was 13 years old back in Hungary. So, when I saw it for sale, I just had to have it. I can appreciate Lolla more now that I'm a grown man! Fanfan is not quite up to Errol Flynn's standard of sword play, but he did OK!
