Abbott and Costello Play Ghouls On First!
A longtime fan of A&C ever since I was a kid. A&C Meet Frankenstein is one of my favorite horror comedies ever...utilizing both the studio's top comedy team and the Universal monsters with Jack Pierce's classic trademark make-ups...comedians and monsters both staying within their well-known roles. Great gags by A&C ("That's the bunk." "That's what I'm saying, that"s Dracula's bunk!" A&C Meet the Mummy is also quite appealing despite lack of name co-stars, the Invisible Man is okay, Jeckyll and Hyde is great with it's use of Boris Karloff, always guaranteed to provide some extra class. Abbott and Costello Meet the Monsters is a funny good time, with all the great Universal movie monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Wolfman and the Mummy. Grew up watching
These were some of my favorite movies as a kid. I had a few uncles that were WWll veterans and my family would visit every Sunday after church. An uncle that was a cook in the navy would have homemade pizza and an Abbott and Costello movie waiting. The Abbott and Costello "monster" movies are classics. They're from the late 40s through the mid 50s, so they're in B&W. The generations that grew up in the 40s, 50s, and 60s will likely love the humor. If you're looking for Jay and Silent Bob, this is NOT what you're looking for.
