    The title describes the story’s unique developments

    “The Getaway” is the top ranking single heist crime drama. I’d love to describe some of the events, but wouldn’t consider robbing its future viewers of the excitement they’re in for. Steve McQueen at his best in a story that never drags. After not seeing this one for more than ten years, I still enjoy it like it’s the first time around. That’s what a great story and great acting can achieve.

    Interesting but not great

    Although it is an interesting film, it is by no means anywhere near the best work of either MacGraw or McQueenViolence is used often for its own sake; not for any good reason. Peckinpah tends to overdo things, causing that which is exciting to become boring.

    All McQueen

    Next to Thomas Crown, his character is superb, believable, and quite "cool." McGraw would NOT be my choice for the heroine...maybe another Dunaway portrayal? The action is superb. Favorite scene...the train station scam that almost is too thought out to be true, but is so tense.
