Many, many fantastic tracks sung in a manner that only Astrud Gilberto was able to produce. Accompanied by such greats as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto, etc. Excellent introduction to Astrud with all the favorites on one CD.

If you're an Astrud Gilberto fan, you probably already know you'll enjoy this CD big time with mostly her old, familiar tunes, but you might be surprised to hear when The Girl from Ipanema opens that this is the version with Joao Gilberto also singing in it -- which is fine, of course. Otherwise, the CD is all Astrud, flying solo. If you're not very familiar with Astrud beyond, probably, Girl from Ipanema, first, where have you been, and second, this girl always delivers, same sound, same warm, sweet, tender feel, so just bask in the vibes of her talent. I had these songs on an LP, and was prompted to get this one for the bonus of hearing the profound sounds of Gil Evans' jazzy composing genius, arranged for Gilberto's Berimbau and Felicade. Classic Astrud Gilberto Brazilian smooth jazz vocals.

Gilberto has a smooth soothing sound grounded in a jazz/Bossa Nova influence. She is backed by many great artists, of the same genre. She is truly "The girl from Ipanema"!
This is not the most popular CD out there for Astrud Gilberto. It does contain some of the most popular and enjoyable songs found on other compilations but also includes Aqua de Beber which is sorely missing on most others.
