About this product

Product Information

London is on the move again. The city has been lying low, skulking in the hills to avoid the bigger, faster, hungrier cities loose in the Great Hunting Ground. The great town moves off after its quarry as events within the walls begin to take a sinister turn. This brilliant, astonishing fiction debut from a talented new author is an adventure story to stir the blood. 'Mortal Engines' was short-listed for The Whitbread Children's Book of the Year, Blue Peter Book of the Year 2003, and Gold winner of the Nestle Book Prize.

  • More insight

As usual the book gives more of a back ground than the film. After watching the film we were intrigued as to the whole background story, this book does that. Hoping to get the prequels soon to discover even more.

  • I studied this book with the open university

I studied this book as part of an Open University Children's Literature course. I was given a talking book copy so simply HAD to buy a copy. Absolutely fantastic book, shame that I hear the film bombed out , although I haven't seen it yet

  • ORIGINAL!

The series of books which begins with Mortal Engines is like nothing I have ever read before. I was hooked from the first few pages and, although not everything (or everyone) is as it seems, you are always left wanting more. Currently, I have read three books of the quartet - I am in two minds whether to read the final installment; not because I don't want to but because I don't want the adventure to end.
