I purchased this cookbook after borrowing it from the library. I have tried many of the recipes during that time, and new there would be too many to copy, so I had to buy my own. Most recipes are very simple to make and I did not see any that called for extravagant ingredients. They give info on how to stock a pantry and how to double your recipe and freeze a casserole for another date (in the Casserole basics chapter.) Chapter titles include: Poultry, beef, Pork, and Seafood classics, Quick and Easy chapter, Potluck pleasers, Meatless classics, side dishes, plus several others. Most recipes can easily be adapted to use whole food ingredients, if they don't already (using brown rice, whole grain pasta, homemade cream soup recipes, etc.) These are excellent on a budget and when have company over - to fix a quick, easy, and inexpensive meal.Read full review
I bought this same cookbook for a daughter-in-law for Christmas this year. I liked it so much, I decided to buy one for myself. I have another daughter-in-law and I am thinking about getting her one too. I also bought this cookbook because I wanted recipes for casseroles that are great tasting and easy to fix. I like the many pictures of the casseroles and the nice size print that makes it easy to read as you make the recipe. The recipes are ones that families would make with ingredients that you normally have on hand. Casseroles covered in this book include... chicken, beef, pork, breakfast and brunch, meatless, pies & pastries, quick & easy, seafood classics, and world favorites. You have it all in this one book! One of the best casserole cookbooks I have seen. It has recipes that are meant to be for everyday folks. Not like some of the newer books who seem to be more interested in using ingredients that you've never heard of and that can only be gotten at specialty stores in areas not near you. I was really happy with this purchase. If you want exotic recipes, this is not the one for you.
