One of the best books for anyone who wants to lead people and manage processes. Mr. Scholtes is one of the great voices for what to do if you want to be both effective and efficient. This book includes both concepts and practical application. For example, most people know, at a gut level, that performance reviews demotivate people. Mr. Scholtes tells us what to do instead. This is one of my favorite books and I bought this one as a gift for my daughter who has recently been promoted to management. It is a 'Must Have" book for any manager with a desire to do the right things and do them right.
I ordered this book for one of my master's classes. I was pleasently surprised to find that it was not written like most class texts. This book is engaging and written with an edge of humor. Far from the typical dry, boring texts that I have been reading. It also has many points that ring true. Many of them seem obvious or simple, but are something most people don't think about. There are also many points that go beyond the obvious. This handbook is very helpful to help other leaders determine what they are doing correctly and what needs to be worked on.
I normally buy used books online and always expect little damages here and there, making up for the cheap price, but this one is nothing short of a Barnes and Noble store! Thank you very much, and please buy books from this fellow his is Good!!
