Works well on all my devices as long as the data connection is fast enough. Was difficult to get outside access setup because my router was not in their database. Easy to get going on the local LAN. Identified local IP on the box and forwarded all outside traffic to Port 5001. The newer boxes use different port numbers. If you are a gadget geek, you will have a ton of fun getting one of these going and accessing it abroad!

We have poor to no signal at home, and an OTA antenna at our business that gets several channels. I thought that slingbox would be a great way to get the local channels at home, through our roku. I bought this to hook to the over the air antenna because I read the newer slingboxes don't even have a tuner. I was extremely disappointed to learn that the slingbox channel for roku can not connect to the slingbox, but requires an android or IOS device and a $15 paid app to connect to the slingbox and send it to roku. Slingbox seems to have lost sight of the place shifting that I thought was it's purpose. Requiring me to own another device to put between the slingbox and roku that I already own is unnecessary and dumb. Trying to charge me for an app on top of that to connect these devices I purchased is greedy and insulting. I have it working through a laptop hooked to the TV, but that wasn't what I wanted from it. Slingbox, I am dissapoint. Read full review

I have really enjoyed my SlingBox but there are some bits that are a bit bothersome. The good news is that it works great even with limited badwidth. In currently live with DSL which has a meagre upload bandwidth of .75 Mbits/s. Surprisingly I can actually watch video from it with limited buffering at a quality that is better than standard definition. I still don't get HD but with upload that lame it's practically is a miracle. The web interface was easy to setup and use (unless you need to use it on an iOS device). I like the attention to detail including an onscreen exact match to my DVR remote and the responsiveness I experienced only let down by the high latency of poor quality DSL. Sound quality was also very good. Once I get a worthy ISP I will enjoy S/PDIF digital audio input. The firmware update was easy to install and took a very short time to complete. Now the bad news, I don't like that I have to buy both an iPad and iPhone version of the iOS software. Perhaps if they were priced a little cheaper it would be different but each cost $30. Another issue is the support documents to setup the port forwarding necessary to watch video on iOS devices (not required for Mac or PC) has much to be desired and had grossly outdated AirPort router instructions. I also don't like the SlingBox doesn't have an HDMI port. I luckily gave devices that can output to component video but if I didn't this limitation would be a deal breaker. However this limitation has more to do with media companies DRM'ing their content than anything Sling did and shouldn't be count against them. Just check your equipment compatibility first. All things considered though I am very happy with my purchase and if Sling lowers its iOS or Android price (not likely) and updates its online guides then I would confidently give it 5 stars.Read full review
To compare this Slingbox with the first Sony Locationfree is important to show how I review this Slingbox, therefore how they do things and how I wish they would of been better. The first Sony LocationFree did better with setup of TV Channels. You can pick which TV Channels you use or delete with Sony Locationfree, with the earlier Slingbox it was worse in picture than Sony Locatiofree yet this Slingbox does better in picture than the first Sony Locationfree, now Slingbox does better in picture and has both a ATSC/NTSC Tuner yet the Sony Locationfree has only a NTSC Tuner. This Slingbox is bad at setup of Channels you can only scan to create the TV Channels, not add or delete them. You can not add or delete Channels as easy as Sony Locationfree. This Slingbox would scan and find some TV Channels that do not exist then stall on them, with no way to delete Channels its slow. You can change Channels fast with Sony Locationfree. To get Sony Locationfree to do this it needs heatsinks and a fan to cool it or the picture stalls or does it slowly, this Slingbox gets hot and smelly and does not perform while without heatsinks and a fan to cool it. This Slingbx changes some TV Channels slowly yet some faster than a Sony LocaionFree. When you change TV Channels on a LocationFree all TV Channels change at the same speed. The most recent Sony Locationfree did not get as hot and did not have a TV Tuner.Read full review
I got this product used and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Its a simple way to share a media type players like a cable box (Directv) etc. It works great except that there is a lag when changing channels or pushing a button on your remote when using the rf transmitter. I guess since its remotely changing channels. So far it works. It helps two people in the household share one tv without being in the other persons room. It works out since one person is gone at a certain time and the other uses it when there gone. Its a sharing device in the sense that one person can watch it when other is gone. Emphasis on one person at a time. Make sure to tape down the rf sensor the double stick tape doesnt work as well as it should. A side note is that the app for apple products works a lot better than the free web version one at least when I used it. Using the virtual remote is somewhat useless. Typing in channels numbers or using the virtual guide to channels is less painless. If you subtract those downsides you get a pretty cool media device. Note I have not tried to remotely axcess this device away from my network. So thats my take on it.Read full review
