While this camera is fairly old, it still holds up very well in a world that is going 4K but still has primarily HD content. This is not a camera for someone who wants to put it in full auto & expect great images, this is a camera designed for and trusted by video professionals. This has the best lens of any handheld professional camera because the zoom, focus and iris rings are not the typical "fly by wire." Which means that you have excellent control. The 35mbps 4:2:0 Mpeg-2 XDCAM-EX codec isn't the greatest, but it does the job for a lot of productions. And if you need something higher quality, the HD-SDI video output sends out an uncompress 10-bit signal. The three 1/2" full raster (1920x1080) chips perform great in low light and have lots of detail. The camera was designed to shoot on high quality SxS cards, but after Sony updated the firmware years ago, it now can reliably shoot on inexpensive SDHC cards with an adapter. Over all this is a great work horse of a camera for anyone who is doing professional HD video work.Read full review

This is a replacement camera. I own 3 and one was damaged. These camera's have been work horse cameras for us for many years. They still stand up in quality and versatility to camera made years later and zero maintenance issues. Just don't drop it.

Of all the cameras I have used, this is an excellent one if you are recording a field show or need to work within a confined space. It is also great for news gathering or documentary crews on a budget.
