The House of Mirth DVD
I bought this DVD becausee I had read the book by Edith Wharton. I really enjoyed the book and leant it to a friend who has since enjoyed reading it as well. I did not know that it had been made into a film, so I checked ebay and found a copy. The book is much better than the film. It sticks closely to the story, but as when you read a book a lot is left to your imagination, and much of the writer's thoughts and nuances do not come across. Anyway, the DVD itself seemed to break up three quarters of the way through the film, and this did spoil it somewhat.I bought this DVD becausee I had read the book by Edith Wharton. Chez les heureux du monde
This is a romantic drama. Gillian Anderson is a strange choice but Eric Stoltz is perfect. Interesting fresco of a hypocrite society. Those who like to cry will be filled by this movie. "Chez les heureux du monde" est un drame romantique. On a du mal a trouver Gillian Anderson à sa place dans ce rôle mais Eric Stoltz est parfait. Fresque sociale intéressante d'une classe hypocrite.
