More ABBA Gold 1999 CD is much closer to the original ABBA sound.
I bought this CD to compare the 1999 sound against the re-mastered 2008 edition of More ABBA Gold which I've owned from new. The 1999 CD retains an original feel to the songs. The 2008 version has an over emphasised 'base beat', probably to try and appeal to younger post-Mamma Mia fans who expect a lot of base. Unfortunately the vocals lose that 'edge' and anyone wanting to experience the original ABBA sound should buy a pre-2008 version. Having said that, earlier versions are now secondhand therefore it goes without saying that you should look for as near as 'mint' as possible. My 1999 CD was described as near 'mint' and it certainly looked good, although some careful cleaning was necessary to eliminate minor faults and improve clarity. Review of ABBA Gold (2) cd
I bought this CD as members of my family had recently watched Mama Mia the movie and one of my daughters liked a few songs that were not on Abba gold V(1)such as "I do, I do " and " Last Summer " and they were on Abba Gold Vol(2). Whilst I acknowledge the songs are not quite all as brilliant as Abba Gold (1) the CD is still pretty good with more excellent songs on it like Eagle, The day before you came and I was pleased with it.
