Rugged and Functional
Tech 21's claim to fame is the SansAmp. It lets you adjust controls to emulate a speaker cabinet and go direct to a board. While retaining elements of that heritage, the Q Strip is primarily a channel strip of a British console. Like the SansAmp, the Q Strip can accommodate bass guitar, guitar, and electric guitar. In the last case, most players will add a dirt box in front of the Q Strip. It's rugged, low noise, and easy to set. It looks good, and the controls feel good. The tone is precise and transparent. After adjusting the EQ section, the ear quickly acclimates; and the difference is only noticed when you turn it off. I use it as a substitute for a bass rig, going direct to a PA. Also, I use it as a more facile Para DI to clarify-and-balance a guitar. It does both things ... Tech 21's claim to fame is the SansAmp. Long time user of Tech 21 pedals. Q/Strip is an amazing box. There are other eq pedals, but I haven't used on that have the same range and quality to the equalizer. This really is a tool that covers a lot of ground. Whether you need a transparent direct box, a direct box with boost, as well as tone sculpting tool that works for sound sources other than just a guitar or bass.

Great sounding preamp
Works nice with my acoustic pickups - soundhole and K&K. Well made although I’m not a huge fan of how the battery fits into the preamp! Be prepared to pay customs charges but still works out cheaper than buying from UK.

Every pedal board can benefit from this pedal
I’ve always wanted an equalizer pedal. I’m pleased with the Q/Strip. It affords me the ability to fine tune my sound. I think the value of a good equalizer is underestimated. ODs and Distortion pedals have limited equalization capabilities. Why not have a vastly wider range of control? I’m very glad I have this pedal. I’m a fan of Tech21.
