  • A useful documentary history of prejudice.

I bought this to read a little more of Hunter S Thompson's work after watching Fear adn loathing in Aspen. His writing is very compelling. In this book he points out the bias the conformative press aims against th Hells angels clubs of California in the early 60s. in particular the manner in which injustices were made against them - wrongful convictions etc. - and the sensational nature of the press eports based more on the fears and fantasies of the writers than on any reality of actions committed by the Angels themselves. I recall that George Harrison was well in with -at least one - bunch of Hells Angels who seemed to bear much closer resemblance to the clans that Thompson writes about then anything presented by the media of the time. A useful documentary history of prejudice.

  • Gonzo!

a great read!after fear and loathing, i thought this would be a wild ride, however its much more a straight read. very informative and interesting, and he keeps a nice eye on the outsiders perspective, despite being drawn into their world.
