An interesting account of Tolkien's World War I experiences.
An interesting account of Tolkien's World War I experiences and early influences. After watching the recent film, I was a bit disappointed that there was not more about his wife Edith in this book. Also, there was rather too much about how he invented his fictional language, which I frankly found tedious. The title is somewhat misleading, as it takes almost a third of the book before you get to the account of his joining the army but it is still a well written book that kept my interest.An interesting account of Tolkien's World War I experiences and early influences.
