About this product
Product Information
Current attitudes toward drug misuse in the media, government and even treatment centres, often exaggerate the pharmacological power of drugs. Their coercive influence is widely believed to be so great that to experiment with a drug is tantamount to addiction. Davies argues that such beliefs are largely inaccurate and harmful. Research shows that explanations for drug use vary according to circumstances. Drug users may explain that they have lost their willpower and capacity for personal decision-making, because this is the explanation expected of them, but most actually use drugs because they want to and because they see no good reason for giving them up. Addicted behaviour is therefore a form of learned helplessness, not an effect caused by narcotic intake.

Communication from the seller was prompt, polite, and helpful, with dispatch confirmed quickly. The parcel was securely packaged and arrived in excellent condition, ahead of the expected delivery date. Care was taken at every stage of the process. - h***i (37)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThe seller kindly got in touch to say the book I ordered did not meet the quality advertised due to being found to be in a poor condition at the packing stage. Unfortuntely no replacement was available and would I like to pick a book of equivalent value from the marketplace - which I did. That book arrived safely and was in the condition advertised. I have used this seller many times before and I am grateful for their quality control decission, rather than send me a damaged book. Will use again.
