Synopsis
Indiana, 1818 . Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother's bedside. She's been stricken with something the old-timers call "Milk Sickness." "My baby boy..." she whispers before dying. Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother's fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire. When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, " henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose ..." Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House. While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln , and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years. Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation., Indiana. • Great story telling...really holds your attention.

This book was a lot of fun to read. I liked the way the author made the story come alive and added photos to actually make one thing this was a factual tale instead of a fictional one. I can see a sequel to this...Henry Sturgiss showing up in some other time and place...Nazi Germany maybe? I like the book because is did not dwell on the gore as it could have. Very much enjoyed the book and would recommend it highly.Gret

  • Definately catches your attention, would read more from this author

Where to begin with this book. Soon to be a motion picture. This book follows a fictional account of Lincoln's life. Beginning with his youth and ending with his death....so it would seem. It's a very well written, and blends in real life events in Honest Abe's life with slightly askew revisions. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It's not as action oriented as some other vampire books, but that doesn't seem to take away from it at all. You'll become thorougly engrossed in this book if you're a fan of vampires, the supernatural, the civil war era, or just well written alternate reality fiction.

  • Great book to read! Even if you don't like paranormal books.

I just finished reading this book. It is a well written book.I like the way they incorporate the vampires into history. Abe is portrayed as the great man that he was and also a very different type of vampire hunter. If you love vampire story's or are a history buff, this book has put them both together as to make it more believable.Great book to read.

  • Fantastic Book!!!!!

Unbelievably great book!! I had it recommended to me and I was very skeptical about it but within twenty pages I was in love. Not only does it give you the action of a fiction book but it walso is very accurate about his life and his rise from a small log cabin to the White House. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about history and be entertained!!

  • Good book for the money

This book is very different to what i usually read, but it was a good book..not hard to understand and follow. At first it goes kinda slow but then it picks up. I was a good book and i enjoyed reading it. cant wait for the movie now..
