Interesting Story, But Limited Information
This book tells the story of Susan Wright who was convicted of stabbing her husband, Jeff, 193 times until he bled to death. The prosection believed that she had seduced her husband with the idea of kinky sex, tied him to the headboard of their marital bed and then, when he was properly restrained and defenseless, proceeded to inflict her rage via a hunting knife repeatedly. However, the defense for Wright said that she was a battered wife and simply just snapped. Any time you have a "he said, she said" situation and the "he said" part is not there to testify, the case become purely circumstancial. While the dead can testify in their own way through forensics, doing so in this case did not really help since Susan Wright admitted that she had killed her husband. When it came to the "she ... It is most likely this conflicting information that led the jury to convict her yet administer a light sentence. If she had not been in Harris County, Texas, chances are she would have walked with reasonable doubt. While the information provided is speculated and told from the view point of the prosecution and background information on Jeff and Susan is limited, the story is still interesting; especially if you like to see both sides of the story and form your own opinion.

The book written by Eric Francis had showed the horrifying crime or as said a REVENGE of a wife to his loving husband. The bloodstained thearetics that unfolded in the houston courtroom would brand Susan Wright as brutal killer who would be brought to justice. Until the end Susan was up to her pride that she didn’t admit what she did. The statements uttered by the people involved, helped a lot in the investigation of the crime.these are the words uttered: “She acted to protect herself and her Family, she was a battered wife” Davis told the Houston Chronicle in one interview. “There are family member’s friends and physicians who witnessed the bruising and scarring from the abuse. The next step for us is to continue cooperating with the police” “I’m not surprised at all that some may not ... Prosecutor Kelly Seigler said in the courtroom that made her of ashamed. Those are words that actually caught up my heart, those words catches my attention. But the catchiest is Jeff’s father’s uttered words “Unbelievable. I mean, how can a human being do what she did to our son? Stab him in his eyeballs while he’s awake? I can’t believe he’s dead. I can’t believe she did it. She’s evil.” Ron Wright Sr. cried with his cheeks wet with tears.Seigler’s words brought Susan to tears. But on the stand Susan tearfully denied that she’d been angry enough to deliberately torture and then murder Jeff. Ron Wright’s statement made me feel the injustices they felt upon Jeff’s death.

Well thought out out- Riveting
After watching "Blue Eyed Butcher" which is the movie based on this case, I knew I had to read the book. This case brings so many different emotions to so many people- making the story that much more interesting. Readers wonder how a person can stab their husband 193 times and claim self defense, while others believe her story to be true, and that she was battered so many times that she just went into a fit of rage to save herself and her children. I highly recommend this true crime book.After watching "Blue Eyed Butcher" which is the movie based on this case, I knew I had to read the book. This case brings so many different emotions to so many people- making the story that much more interesting. Readers wonder how a person can stab their husband 193 times and claim self defense, while others believe her story to be true, and that she was battered so many times that she just went into a fit of rage to save herself and her children.
