  • Age 65 and Wondering if You Have What It Takes?

I remember when Sir Chicester accomplished this feat. I've wanted to read his book about his voyage for years. The book was offered at a very good price on eBay, so I bought it. I always give the books I buy an immediate first-glance run-through then "file" them away depending on my interests in certain "pending" piles. With "Gipsy Moth.." my cursory read ended up being a solid half hour of reading the first however many pages. The book gripped me immediately. Chichester's narrative is so well written, he had me captivated. It helps, no doubt, having an interest in the sea; loving stories about solo adventures; and wanting to live the vicarious thrills of single-handed sailing. Even without those existing interests one would immediately develop them in reading this book. It is just ...

  • A excellent adventure!

I always enjoy reading about those who brave the elements to challenge themselves and show what can be accomplished with the technology of the day. Sir Francis Chichester's tale is a fine read, even if sailing solo is not your idea of fun. It is his observations on life during his around the world journey and the different challenges he faced (alone) that makes this account complete. Highly recommend for the 'armchair' adventurer!

  • Good book. Fast shipper

    Good read
