Absolutely fantastic gaming experience with the great DLC included as well.
One of my favorite games of all time. There's nothing quite like it except for maybe it's predecessor (Demon's Souls) and hopefully its upcoming sequel (Dark Souls II). The challenge is at times brutal but ultimately rewarding. The lore is deep, bleak, and subtle, requiring lots of studying and thinking to truly grasp the small connections between its different parts. The enemy design is detailed and grotesque. The boss fights in particular can be absolutely brutal. Such an experience only allows it to have a relatively small fanbase (compared to other RPGs like Final Fantasy and gaming juggernauts like Call of Duty), but it is a highly dedicated one that works hard to flesh out the world and (usually) make new players feel welcome and excited to join it. The Prepare to Die Edition in ... One of my favorite games of all time. The Prepare to Die Edition in particular comes with the DLC "Artorias of the Abyss" on-disc and it has some absolutely fantastic add-ons, such as a new sub-plot, areas, enemies, weapons, armor, and characters. It also includes a battle arena for characters to fight each other in competitive multiplayer. Although you have to get through a decent amount of the game to play it (you need to complete the area called Anor Londo), it's worth it once you get to it. I honestly can't recommend this game more and since this version comes with the only DLC that was made for the game, I suggest you get it if you like to be challenged and to read into your game stories because this is the most complete version.
