Roxanne (Darryl Hannah) is a beautiful astronomer in search of a comet, and Chris is a hunky but inarticulate fire expert who has been hired to train C.D.'s team of well-meaning firemen. C.D. immediately falls in love with Roxanne but he is sure that she won't notice anything about him except his extremely prominent facial feature and is quick to hide his passionate desires. However, Roxanne has captured the fancy of another, Chris. When C.D. learns of Chris's crush, he uses his gift for poetry to help the inexperienced courtier capture her affections. Wooed by the beauty of the words, Roxanne falls for Chris, not realizing that C.D. was the one really doing the talking. Of course, when put to the test, Chris does not live up to Roxanne's expectations and she quickly learns the identity of her real poetic suitor. Steve Martin is at his agile and uproarious best in this superior version of a classic story that revels in the oddity of life and the power of true love.

    Steve Martin is the man, not only eloquent in speech, he builds others up, while wishing, he were normal! Darryl Hannah, is after her professorship, to get a comet passing by, to be recognised, would mean it would be named after her, and she would become a professor in astronomy, through a chance meeting, she enters the world of CB, (steve Martin), at first she is taken aback by his nose problem....but it doeswnt bother him, because he is captivated by Hannah, anothr intellect in the town of Nelson Colorado. Soon Rick Rossovich (Top Gun) shows up, he is mesmerized by Darryl hannah, and uses CB to get into her bedroom, later we learn dixie (shelley DuVall) is about to blow the lid off Nelson, and CB's plans, but this is only the beginning....watch the movie, and realize, is there really a ...

    Roxanne, set in the BC town of Nelson, is a brilliant & hilarious adaptation of Leo Rosten's turn of the last century theatrical vision of Cyrano de Bergerac, whose nose wasn't quite that big. Steve Martin again examines deeper questions of identity & ethics through a comic lens; & Darryl Hannah is an ideal counterfoil. DVD quality is faultless. & the city of Nelson, full of character, is intensely interwoven into the setting.

    title fits the story line

    Steve Martin at his best, funny and likable. delivers in this movie. darryl hannah did a good job as love interest Roxanne. and Rick Rossivich really sold the role of the he-man dolt that caught roxanne's eye.plus an odd cast of characters who answer to steve's character as fireman in a small northwest town very good spin on the old movie cyrano de bergerac except with a lot of laughs. check this movie out. i am sure you will find laughs galore in it
