    Great read

I've just started this book and it is as compelling as the first. It is a really easy read and the characters are all likable and there is a great deal of humor throughout. I would recommend this book for ages over 50 as it is set in a OAP residential home and it will resonate with people of that age group. It could also be for younger readers as their grandparents might be living in that type of accommodation.

  • Most critical review

Disappointing, just like his first book

Well, somehow I waded through this but I never felt the real urge to identify the villain(s). It was light reading but not to the standard I'm used to. I read Wilbur Smith, Jeffrey Archer, Dan Brown, Desmond Bagley, Hammond Innes and David Baldacci if I want mystery thrillers. Sadly, Mr Osman is not to their standard, but it was a nice try and often a gentle story of elderly people, out to pasture but still full of a bit of zip. A bit like me, really. Someone will pick up this book, now donated to a charity, for 50p and have a good 50p's-worth. Spending quids on this and its predecessor is not something I'd recommend.

  • A really good read!

A really entertaining read with great, believable characters and a few 'red herrings'. I suspected most of the characters at one time or another throughout the book but I wasn't expecting the revelation at the end. The whole story moved at a good pace and didn't get bogged down in unnecessary details.

  • Great read.

This book is easy reading. The sort of book you can’t put down. Short chapters. No bad language which has to be a bonus. Well worth reading. Can’t wait for the next book.

  • As funny as Wilt by Tom Sharp but with clearly defined characters. and its a mystery. I can see thiis becoming a TV series like Doc martin
