I have purchased quite a few of these CD Cleaners, And found that 90% of them failed to deliver the results, This is my considered opinion the narrative part of the cleaner is the weak link in this method. The disc contains a few small brushes for cleaning the discs, But overall they don't provide the results ask any Electronics Engineer like my Brother who went to college and had to complete a Seven year apprenticeship to qualify as such just look at a service manual for hi- fis is unbelievable. Was given a Rotel CD player which skipped several times each track, tried to use cotton bud and meths but difficult to get to laser so bought a higher priced Allsop Prolens Cleaner, after several cycles no improvement, waste of time so did not blame the cleaner believed needed a new laser. Ebay then informed me another make of cleaner had been reduced that used a liquid so as now very cheap thought I would give it a try. The good thing about this one was as long as it was left in player it would keep repeating the process and this time it worked. Still if able to see laser head, cotton bud and meths is the way to go.

I bought this product thinking it was going to clean the laser lens on my malfunctioning CD player. It was more expensive than other products so I thought it might be more effective. However, it is more designed for setting up Dolby, which I did not need. It didn’t help the CD player to function any better. Tried it in another CD player which works and has never been cleaned. It hasn’t really made any difference to that one either.

It does make a difference to audio quality on my portable C.D. player having cleaned it using this device. Base and treble and clarity are all improved. I also notice that unexpected skipping or drop outs on some of my own recorded C.D.'s occur less frequently. So far am impressed with its use. The diagnostic tests are interesting and can be helpful. The only negative is that the packaing does not say how many cleaning operations it can perform before it gets gummed up with the dirt that its swept off your DVD / C.D. In my experience they cease to become effective after 30 - 50 cleanings.

I bought this item because my DVD recorder/player was not recording properly. It did work and the player worked for a while after using it, but then I had the machine checked and it was going to cost a lot to get it repaired, as it was quite old I decided it was time to let it go. The cleaner did work but the machine was just too old.
