Overall, disappointing, too long, ridiculously loud at times and too quiet at other times.
We were looking forward to this film, but it did not live up to the hype. The story line was poor and not easy to follow. The sound quality dreadful! When characters were talking we had to turn the volume up, when the missiles were flying around, we had to reduce the volume! Overall, it was very disappointing, too long, too loud at times and too quiet at other times.

Not at all what I was hoping for.
Re-imagining: Doing something that was done before less well because you have run out of ideas. 1984 Dune thumps it in almost every way imaginable. Better soundtrack, casting (several heavy-weights), cinematography, direction, script, costumes (the Still-suits look gorgeous), make-up, production design… ….even the special effects hold up very, very well. No wonder Lynch threw a strop when it was panned! A work of genius - the reviewers were clueless. 2021 Dune? Sterile. Lifeless. Flat. A film made by a journeyman who might never arrive. Awful casting. Other than the Baron, Rabban, Idaho and Stilgar you can throw the whole lot back. The Ornithopters were superb, but the Sardaukar looked like Power Rangers and the skate board armour from the Hunger Games was lazily re-used, making even ... Never be ashamed of who you are. Bring your whole self to the desert! Stuff college and go surfing. Yes, that’s how the Great Houses would work. Who wrote that astoundingly duff script? It would have been funny if it wasn’t so disappointing.
