Suction cup needs loosening / softening up before use.
Had a few problems getting them to stick to the valve at first, I've been using lapping sticks for years, eventually I managed to get them to stick well enough to lap the valves in, i think it was due to the rubber being to stiff and not flattening out enough to create a suction. Hope they last 20 odd years like my last one. The resin stick is an improvement on my old wooden one. The suckers work well. The plastic tube they are mounted on is too short and too slippery. I replaced it with a suitable piece of wooden dowel and it now works very well.

Modern Valve Grinding Stick
Bought this Valve Grinding Stick as a replacement for existing stick that I have had for many years after the rubber cup finally perished with age. This new stick is really nice having two cups of different sizes which makes the stick very handy when working on smaller valves such as those in my lawnmower. Good construction and has worked well so far. At this price is a real handy tool to add to my tool collection for those odd occasions when you need to give your valves a quick lick when doing a decoke or changing a head gasket. Bought this Valve Grinding Stick as a replacement for existing stick that I have had for many years after the rubber cup finally perished with age.
