I would definately recommend the Energenie Mi Home Smart Hub to anyone.
It has far greater range than my Sky/Now router. The only problems I encounter are those of my routers's range and the Energenie Mi Home hub seems to compensate for the poor WiFi, being able to connect with my router when my phone or tablet has difficulty. The Mi Home hub is located in my lounge which has always had a poor WiFi reception, so it is connected to an 8 port switch which itself connected to a similar switch in my study, then connected to my Now router which has only 2 ethernet ports. It works flawlessly, communicating to Energenie devices thoughout my home alongside Smart Life devices controlling light switches from one company and plugs from another, all controlled through an Echo Dot and Alexa directly or Alexa through my and my wifes mobile phones.It has far greater range than my Sky/Now router. Seriously considering boxing it back up and flogging it.
This is an enabler for the product I'm really disappointed by, so the review reflects that. The setup for this object in particular was a nightmare given it was used and the TRVs I bought to go with it are beyond disappointing. Seriously considering boxing it back up and flogging it. Don't bother, go with another brand, this is a poor mans Phillips Hue. For specifics, because the box was used I had to get in touch with the Energenie customer support to be able to add it to my account. Until they did this it was unusable. The TRVs I'm using with this don't control the temperature of the rooms I'm in at all - the lounge and kitchen downstairs that I want to be warmer aren't being released to heat up and the rooms I want to keep cool for some reason are.This is an enabler for the product I'm really disappointed by, so the review reflects that. Good, but...
In order to benefit you need to have permanent internet connection. Without it, it doesn't work. There is no offline mode as of yet. I would recommend using two of these if your house is larger than 60m2. The further away the controllers, the longer the activation lag, which can vary from almost instant up to ten or so seconds. So more than one unit can improve this.
