A Total Childhood Fave
Did not know it was a Rankin Bass offering. I have always remembered this as a Saturday morning cartoon, after the regular scheduling, and wanted to see it again. I was finally steered to it starring Dame Margaret Rutherford and tracked it down. After watching the animated '06 Babes In Toyland, which seemed to borrow somewhat from Wacky World, I decided it was time to purchase it, and in time for the holidays as well. Two memorable moments for me and my brother were Brutus the candlestick, reciting 'rain, rain, go away' which made us laugh so when we were little. And we always thought it was funny when the Crooked Man was dragging Mary down the steps. We thought she was just bouncing down the steps as he spoke. Always stayed with me to see the Crooked Man as a villian, which did play ... Did not know it was a Rankin Bass offering. In Wacky World, the crooked man was Count Limptwist. And truly one of the favorite moments was Hey Diddle Diddle, involving an enthusiastic cat, a discerning dog, a purple cow and an evil dish and spoon. Very creepy, that last one. And the woman who jumped over the moon on the cow to let Mother Goose know what was wrong was the wife of Peter Pumpkin Eater. All very amusing to a four and six-year-old. The opening theme was very catchy, but that discoteque-y Never Too Late, well, a sign of the times, I guess.

No damage on the DVD case but there were acting bit of scratches on the disc but they didn't stop the movie and stuff from being played in a DVD player.

LOVE it when I was a kid and LOVE it now. Now I watch it with my daughter and after a couple of viewing she's already singing along.
