Product Information

Lilah Krytsick (Sally Field) is a New Jersey housewife and mother of three who has been told all her life that she is funny. Steven Gold (Tom Hanks) is a failed medical student whose natural comedic talent has allowed him to steal the spotlight at New York comedy club the Gas Station, thus keeping him from focusing on the other failures in his life. Lilah decides to follow her dreams and try her luck on the Gas Station stage, but her act falls flat. When she strikes up a friendship with bitter Steven, he helps her sharpen her comedy while she attempts to help him pull his chaotic life together. This unique comedy/drama features a strong supporting cast including John Goodman, Damon Wayans, and Paul Mazursky.

Insightful look into the tough world of stand-up comedy
THis film offers much. You will have a good look at Tom Hanks in his early career in films. And when I saw it the first time, I was blown away by just how talented Hanks really was, even when he was just starting out. You will be hard-pressed to find a better performance than Hank's as a supporting actor in a tough role as a street-smart, spoiled comedian. Sally Fields is also early in her acting career, and she also provides an excellent performance as a housewife pursuing her life's dream: to be a stand-up comic. Expect lots of laughs and an intense character study of a young man (Hanks) trying to define himself within and through the tough world of Stand-Up Comedy.THis film offers much.
