About this product

Product Information

Joshua's day started out simple enough. Climb up on a roof to catch a butterfly for Adele. Once he actually catches it, he promptly falls off the roof. That would be the beginning of the end. His stepsister Rosaly comes running over to say a stranger is being attacked in the field. With the help of his two friends Yuri and Clive, they save the stranger and bring him back to the village so the doctor can treat his wounds. Little do they know, this act of kindness will change their lives forever, for this is no ordinary stranger.

The stranger, Nicola, is not what he appears to be but Joshua sees him as a hero and wants to help him. Since Nicola is a wanted man being hunted by the relentless Blood Knights, Joshua hides him in his secret tree house. Unfortunately, his stepfather sees Nicola as a troublemaker for bringing the Blood Knights to the village, and thus turns him in. Furious, Joshua sets off to the mayor's manor to save Nicola.

Wandering through the manor, Joshua makes a wrong turn and finds that he is trapped in a room with the kindly old mayor. Suddenly the court diviner teleports into the room and puts the mayor into a murderous rage. Joshua is forced to fight the mayor and slays him in front of the very eyes of the only woman he will ever love, Adele. After she sees him kill her grandfather, she denounces him and calls for the guards to arrest him. Joshua jumps through a window into the waiting current of the river. He must leave his family, his town and the woman he loves, in hopes of clearing his name and winning back Adele.

As a result of his actions, the country of Natra becomes embroiled in a Civil War that has gone on for seven years, and which still continues. Finally Joshua, now 20, resurfaces as leader of the Red Wolves, a group of bandits that have stricken terror into the hearts of both sides of the Civil War. They only attack military cargoes and people, and have yet to be defeated or captured. They know no allegiance and have no country. They just have each other, but that too will change.

Once again, a chance meeting alters Joshua's life. After taking over a new cargo train, he finds two prisoners, Baron Pratau and his captain Lira. Immediately Joshua tells them to go. He wants nothing to do with them but they offer him 100,000 gold pieces to escort them to Fort Gusta. Wanting the money, Joshua and his two new compatriots Vlad and Pike agree to help them get there on one condition: once there, the Red Wolves get paid and everyone goes their separate ways, never to meet again. However, what one wants and what actually happens can be two very different things.

In Vandal Hearts II by Konami, you play as Joshua, a bitter bandit whose very life has been stolen from him, along with up to four other characters under your control. In this RPG, the battles are turned-based. However, the enemy is much smarter than your average RPG and even moves around before you can attack. Wander from site to site fighting different enemies and monsters as you piece together your destiny. You won't be forced to battle all the time, sometimes you can choose to enter the fight or just move on. Reenter previously finished battle maps to search for items or to just build up your experience points.

In each town, be sure to buy and sell weapons, armor and items to make your war party the strongest and most powerful force. Stop by the local tavern to gain valuable knowledge from the patrons, or possibly go on a mini-quest. You must decide who to help and who to harm. Choose wisely because it just may effect the outcome of the game itself. Solve the mystery of who the real evil is behind the Civil War that now rages around you as you become the hero you were meant to be.

Can Joshua stay out of the war he was forced to create? Can he rise up to be the mighty leader that appears to be his destiny? Will he ever be able to explain to Adele why he was forced to kill her grandfather

  • A very good tactics rpg!

This is the second episode of the serie Vandal hearts. It's a very good tactics rpg (a style that i like so much), and come with new features. One new point of the game is that we don't have classes of fighters, because the skills do not come with the caracter (like the first game), but are acquired on the weapons. So, everybody can use all the styles of weapons and armours, and all the different kinds of skills. Another new point is that your caracters and your oponents moves at the same time. So, if you sellect a target to attack, it can move to another place and you lose your action; or it can be the opposite, and it can avoid an attack to your caracter. The time to finish the game is much bigger than the first episode (55 to 78 against 13 to 17 hours), because the world map have many ...

  • Vandal Heart II (PSONE)

In a world where we as humans tend to forget the past for the sake of concerning ourselves with the newness of what is current, we overlook some of the past. Graphically, Vandal Hearts II is nothing special by modern standards, but thinking only this would lead you to miss a decent game to play and exercise the mind at the same time. Granted the storyline in VH2 is not that special, intriguing and entertaining for the most part, but the game itself is a huge improvement from Vandal Hearts 1. Engage your mind in a test of your skills of strategy and treat yourself to VH2 and VH1 for that matter. At first I didn't like the two-turn battle mechanism as having played VH1 I expected the same battle engine, but then the two turn mechanism grew on me like the game's storyline did. Plus, its ...

  • Not as good as the first installment, but great nonetheless.

Vandal Hearts II is definitely more refined and polished than its predecessor; I actually love the rough-edged look and grit of the first game. However, this game is still excellent. It is pretty text and story heavy, and is significantly longer than the first game. Some of the battles take an absurd amount of time to complete. It is also more challenging and requires you to think more so than VH I. It is one of the less talked about PS1 games, so try and pi

  • Vandal Hearts 2? More like Vandal Hearts Poo.

Well, how to put it. The graphics are definitely better than the first Vandal Hearts, but that's where the improvement ends. Everything else is horrible. If this game could be rated lower than Poor, I would have. To put it simply, this game sucks. To start off, they make you read a bunch of crap that has nothing to really do with anything for about 30 minutes. It's bunch of stupid kids trying to catch a moth or butterfly or something. Then you finally get to go to battle, and this is where the anguish really begins. The fighting is more or less turn based as in the original, except you have no idea when the enemy is going to take their turn, which makes the battle completely random. Your characters are made to look like a bunch of idiots because they'll just run up to air and swing at, all ...

  • an amazing rpg classic

This is one of the best RPG's you'll find on playstation. I've played and beaten the first vandal hearts which had the versatility of choosing the job paths for your characters as they leveled up. Vandal Hearts II takes it a step further in allowing you to choose each characters role in a mission by means of which armor they are wearing. Each character has individual stats by default and hence are better suited to come roles than other characters. In addition you can also pick and choose which abilities your characters learn and transfer from weapons you come across throughout your travels. One of the strong points of the game is the AI, as it allows you to follow a set of guidlines to predict the enemy's movement. This allows you to assume or encourage the enemy to say attack a character ...
