Abteilung), Veranstaltung: Flaubert, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Obwohl Flaubert das Etikett Realist ablehnte, zahlt er zu den bedeutendsten Schriftstellern des burgerlichen Realismus im Frankreich des 19. Jahrhunderts. Ebenso wie Stendhal und Balzac wollte er im Roman die Geschichte seiner Generation schreiben: Je veux faire l'histoire morale des hommes de ma generation; sentimentale serait plus vrai. Dieses gross angelegte Projekt muss man im Zusammenhang mit der Entwicklung im 19. Jahrhundert sehen. Im Jahrhundert der Revolutionen wendete sich die Betrachtung auf die historische Wirklichkeit der sich verandernden Gesellschaft, die durch zunehmende Kommerzialisierung und Kapitalisierung aller Lebensbereiche gekennzeichnet war. Die Literatur versuchte dem gerecht zu werden, indem sie persoenliche Lebensgeschichten im aktuellen Bezug auf die sozialen, politischen und oekonomischen Bedingungen darstellte. Den Vertretern des realistischen Romans war dabei eine antiburgerliche Haltung gemeinsam, die die Korruption der Gesellschaft offenlegte und die Frage nach der Rolle des Individuums stellte, dass nur noch scheitern kann. Die realistischen Romane haben Paris als Zentrum der modernen Gesellschaft gemeinsam. In Flauberts L'Education Sentimentale ist Paris fur die Hauptfigur Frederic Moreau die Flache fur die Projektion seiner romantischen Sehnsuchte und gesellschaftlichen Ambitionen. Im klassischen Gegensatz zur Verderbtheit der Stadt steht die Landidylle, in die Frederic mehrfach flieht und dort auch bis zu einem gewissen Grad seine Sehnsuchte erfullt findet. Diese Arbeit moechte zeigen, wie in der L'Education Sentimentale das Motiv der Idylle als Sinnmodel und narratologischer Subtext evoziert wird, um jedoch durch Korruption und Banalisierung als falsches Ideal
