Soft and easy. A delight to cast!

This is a classic for a reason- it is dirt cheap, gaudy color, it really should feel like a toy rod, but it doesn't. This rod fishes like a dream! It has a slow action and soft feel that loads easily and presents small flies gently. I'm having a blast with mine. Small stream fishing and panfish in ponds/lakes are just more enjoyable with a quality rod that I don't have to worry about damaging. At this price point, there is no need to worry. Keep one in your trunk. Let your kids try it out. Just get one and enjoy a connection to generations of fly fisherman who have swung a bright yellow featherlight. Welcome to the club.

    Eagle Claw Featherlight fly rod

I flyfish and my usual rig is a 4/5 weight rod that I cast popper's with , I wanted to try using some smaller flies maybe size 12 - 18 so I needed a lighter rig , hence this purchase . First off , it's a good looking rod and the quality of it seem's good but I do wish they had left the 24" of measurement hash mark's off of it (if I want to measure a fish I'll use a tape) . Now I don't like "whippy" rod's which this guy is but I thought hey it's a $30 rod cut it some slack . So I rigged it up , took it to the lake and proceeded to ruin a day at the lake . I was using WF 3 weight line w/7 1/2' 3 lb. leader with a #10 fly . I could have cast a canepole further , I simply could not cast this thing . Was it me , my line selection , my leader or the rod ? I don't know what the problem was and I'll try some more line combination's before I give up on it . But for now , I'm not real happy with this rod purchase . Thank's , J .

  • Short rod for small streams and tight spots...

I bought this rod for fishing tight spots and small streams. I also want to use it next spring in my kayak for bream fishing. I find the rod to be of good quality and priced right. I used it to fish the small stream behind my house and it worked extremely well. It's fiberglass and not carbon, but it has great action. I'm well satisfied and would not hesitate to recommend this rod.

  • Good, inexpensive rod

I was looking for a short, cheap rod to fish my pond which has lots of overhang and this rod filled the bill perfectly. I was skeptical of the 3/4 weight rating, but it casts a 3wt line well and a 4wt line perfectly. Ideal for the bass, crappie and bluegill that inhabit my pond. Would also make a nice canoe rod.

  • Eagle Claw 2 pc light fly rod

It is a great fly rod for catching blue gill in tight spots such as I encounter on local ponds & lakes.Nice balance, easy casting.

  • Disappointing, cheap and nasty

Bought the seven foot version a couple of years ago, great rod for the price, this latest version is not the same, different reel seat, and the handle grip is NOT cork, but foam covered in cork tape about as cheap and nasty as it gets, duplon would have been better. Unless you can actually see the rod you are buying I would avoid this brand like a bad dose of diarrhoea.

  • Best Fly rod under $50

The featherlight has a nice feel when casting and playing fish. Has nice aesthetics and good build quality for what you pay for. This the best low budget 4wt fly rod I have ever bought.

  • Fly rod

Good rod for the price. Very flexible rod and good casting. Good for beginners and advanced fly fisherman. Works just as good as expensive fly rods. That's my opinion.

  • Perfect for small Texas rivers

I have 2 of these rods. They do everything I need and then some. Not only can I wade fish rivers but I can also fish tanks and ponds with a little finesse which would be difficult if not impossible with an 8 1/2’ or 9’ rod. p.s. shipping was super fast on a holiday weekend!

  • Lightweight Eagle Claw fly rod 6’6” 3/4wt.

Very happy with the fly rod, shipping was quick and rod was at a great price. I need a fly rod that I could use on ponds and small streams. 6’6” 3/4 line should just fine.
