Story: The science-fiction thriller MINORITY REPORT, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, is based on a short story by renowned writer Philip K. Dick. In the year 2054, in Washington, D.C., murder has been eliminated thanks to Precrime, a program that uses the visions of three psychics, called Precogs (an abbreviation for precognitive thinkers), to arrest and imprison would-be murderers before they have a chance to kill. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a Precrime enforcer who believes in the system for his own personal reasons--years back his young son was abducted, and he has dealt with the loss by becoming a high-strung Precrime officer. The director of Precrime (Max von Sydow) is eager to take the program national, and feels threatened by an ambitious federal agent ... I really loved watching this movie because Yom Cruise is an excellent actor. Set in Washington, D.C. in the year 2054, this is the story of John Anderton, a detective working in the 'Pre-crime' division. The special police unit arrests people before they commit murder with the help of three Precogs. Precogs are genetically altered humans who can predict the future. When the Precogs identify John as a future killer he becomes a fugitive and takes off with his colleagues hot on his heels... It's not easy to accept the absurd world depicted in this long-winded sci-fi hokum, in which people are arrested and punished BEFORE committing a murder. But Tom Cruise gives one of his strongest performances as the boss of a "Pre-Crime" unit framed for murder by his own technology and director Steven Spielberg has a lot of fun with some astonishing special effects. Fans of Cruise and Spielberg will love it.It's not easy to accept the absurd world depicted in this long-winded sci-fi hokum, in which people are arrested and punished BEFORE committing a murder.
