Notes
Mobile Fidelity gold Disc SACD pressing of the 1976 album from the American rockers. Takin' It to the Streets marks a high point in The Doobie Brothers' career. Benefiting from the breakup of Steely Dan's core band, the California group's mellowed-out 1976 album is heavily influenced by the key contributions of former Dan members Jeff Baxter and Jeff McDonald. The latter are responsible for an increase in soulful melodies and Latin-fused rhythms, which help make Takin' It to the Streets among the era's most enjoyable recordings. Mobile Fidelity's hybrid stereo SACD captures the nuances of the splendid guitar interplay, brassiness of the Memphis Horns section, and opens up a dynamic gateway to the high frequencies.

  • Doobie Brothers

There are some extraordinary songs on the disc, but I have never like Michael McDonald’s vocals at all, he wrecked Steely Dan and now he his trashing the Doobie Brothers’ iconic sounds with this heavily synchronized and electronic tunes that are from the disco era of music. Do get me wrong there are good songs on this album ready for top 40 charts. The underlying reason is selling records with radio tunes. The Doobie Brothers have sold us rock and rollers out to sell records on top 40. Mofi has done an amazing job cleaning up the ambient noise left over from the original recording. Well worth the money

  • Doobie Brothers,SACD at its best!

If you own a top end stereo or even a lower end model you really should give SACD a try. There really is no comparing a cd next to a SACD.Its night and day in sound and knocks on the front door of vinyl. And takin'it to the streets is an album that really shines on SACD.The title track sounds really fine but also Rio is a nice mellow tune worth spinning more than once.It keeps you running is on it as well and its one of those disc's where you can have a glass of wine and listen to it from start to finish. The boys at Mobile Fidelity made a master piece with remastering this classic album. Some advice...buy it before they are sold out, once the run is done prices go up very fast on the second hand market.Best listening to all! Reggie
