This was a father's day present, after buying several cheaper options I decided to get a pin pointer with a hard covering over the tip as he seems to wear out the end of it detecting in sand. He has had it for a month now and loves it. He said the sounds are more effective and the tip is less worn so hopefully I won't be replacing it anytime soon........
