    Simply the best

What? What do you want from a paint? I mean REAALY want? Usually theres a compromise somewhere between valus, coverage, durability, finish or price. If you're looking at this review therese a possibility you've never used Hammerite before, and are wrinkling up your nose at the price, so are here looking for REASONS why you should spring above average dinar. Well here's the thing of it - Hammerite has been the #1 one-coat cover-all durable indoor & outdoor paint since I was a kid & Im 56. There's a reason for that - it's simply the best product there is of its type. I introduced my better half to Hammerite last year & she was SHOCKED at how good everything appeared after one coat (which is all you need - this is like covering your work in a thin coat of rubberised plasic) - now she HUNTS ...

  • Hammerrite is not what it used to be - now sold in DULL colours only !!!

Well, I used to be a huge fan of Hammerite hammer tone paint, My favorite colours where the light turquoise green and light blue - this blue was exactly the same shade of blue that Clarke International paint their machine tools (see Machine Mart catalogue for what I mean)....Fast forward from the 1990's to 2017.... What??! where have all the lovely bright colours gone?????????? What, or which idiot decided to stop all the best cheerful colours that put Hammerite in business and made their paint ever so popular?? It seems now in 2017 you can only buy dark blue, dark green, red and grey Hammerite hammer finish paint :( Only Rust Oleum seems to have their head on their shoulders and make decent bright colour Hammer Tone paint now as well as Duplicolor (if you can ever find their ...

  • Good Finish

I have been using Hammerite for over 50 years and some of the items painted then are still in excellent condition and look good. It is easy to apply with a brush and with a little practice can look almost as good as a sprayed finish. It keeps reasonably well in a sealed tin although it might get a bit thicker after multiple openings for smaller jobs. This is easily fixed with the addition of a small amount of Hammerite Thinner and Brush Cleaner. I make a point of always putting the lid back on in exactly the same rotation as when it was removed and inverting the tin for a short while to seal the lid. It does seem to be noticeably more expensive in recent years so I am not sure about the Good Value question. I suppose if it continues to last (outlast me) then it should be good value.
