While adoption isn't right for everyone, it certainly helps the state of the abandoned bird population and should be considered, just the same as it would be considered for a dog, cat, etc. He also recommends only pet stores for the purchase - consumers should educate themselves on the possiblities of buying from breeders or adoption centers. I found the book to be a complete waste of time. There are much more accurate and un-biased references available. ...
