R: Racing Evolution for PlayStation 2 is notable for featuring not one but eight distinct racing styles, including GT, rally, and drag racing. A total of 14 tracks are available to compete on, with both real-world venues and fantasy locales represented. Players can choose from a variety of licensed vehicles to participate in one of four game modes: Racing Life, Time Attack, Arcade, and Versus. Racing Life is the heart of R: Racing Evolution, allowing players to participate in a storyline that chronicles an entire career filled with rivalries and lucrative events. By performing well in each race, players will earn points that can be used to unlock power-ups, modifications, and additional cars. I got tired of Pro Street Need for Speed so went looking for something new and found this game with an Ebay search. The interesting feature of this game is the story line of the beginning racer to get you hooked and provide some practice so you get used to the dynamics. It should be developed into a game by itself. The variety of tracks and cars seems endless and with your rewards to buy upgrades this game provides fun for weeks on end. I usually turn the music off in games because it's distracting so I can't comment on it, but the engine sounds and crowd noise seem pretty realistic. I play this game on a 46 inch HD flat screen TV and the graphics are very good. The drifting capability on the rally tracks is great but stick to the mid performance cars at first until you get the feel for ... If you play with family or friends you can go back and judge each other and have some laughs. The only thing I don't like is having to purchase races, the rewards points should be left to use to buy cars and upgrades. I don't pay full price for any game but if you can find an Ebay bargain and you like racing this game will keep you busy.

Amazing game!
I know its late to review a ps2 game in 2010 with the ps3 and all but you know what, even today this game feels awesome compared to the big leagues out there. Ever since I played ridge racer on the psp, I was hooked on everything ridge racer. All the racing games out there always felt like they were missing something but I could really pin point exactly what it was until I played this game. This game has a very interesting and unique storyline which you follow as you progress in the game and really makes you feel you are a beginner race driver who is going up the ranks and lets you see how the life of a racer can be. Add to that superb visuals with an excellent list of music tracks and you got yourself an awesome racing experience. My only disappointment with the game is that the story ... Licensed vehicles and a realistic track, what can be better? Although there are certain areas in the game where it could have used a little more work with the graphics and most especially the sound, it makes for a decent realistic race game.
