About this product

Product Information

Among the first titles published in 1978, with more than 150,000 copies in print in three editions, Japanese Maples is a Timber Press classic. Japanese maples are unlike any other tree. They boast a remarkable diversity of colour, form, and texture. As a result of hundreds of years of careful breeding, they take the centre stage in any garden they are found. In the last decade, the number of Japanese maple cultivars available to gardeners has doubled and there is a pressing need for an up-to-date reference. This new fourth edition offers detailed descriptions of over 150 new introductions, updates to plant nomenclature, and new insights into established favourites. Gardeners will relish the practical advice that puts successful cultivation within everyone's grasp. Accurate identification is made simple with over 600 easy-to-follow descriptions and 500 colour photographs.

Sadly the postman failed to deliver the first item sent, but the seller replied to my query quickly and sent a replacement item straight away. Can't really ask for more than that. Well packaged and the book received was brand new as described. Recommended seller. Many thanks.

SNEAKY postage charge. You have to put "positive" before you can leave a review. However, this transaction wasn't completely positive. The correct item arrived very quickly, BUT was described as postage free. In fact the seller added £3.15 to the price, which sounds like postage to me. I contacted them but was fobbed off with various excuses - it's a rare book was one. This book is widely available, not rare. I don't object to paying postage but prefer sellers to be up front about it.

Simply the best present for Japanes maple lovers!

Fab deal on the definitive book on Acers. Delighted to find this at substantially less than shelf price. A glorious book for anyone who shares my passion for Japanese maples. So many very clear images, so much information. Sources, and even a Japanese glossary so you can understand the names. I love it!

  • The "go-to" book for Japanese maples

This is a fantastic 'bible' of Japanese maples. I bought this because there are so many new varieties coming to market that my 1st Edition was out of date. I'm sure you will find *cheaper* books, but this is so comprehensive, I don't think you will find *better*. It is a reference book, so although there are plenty of 'pretty pictures', it's a wordy tome.
