Mr E's second Solo Offering
This album is 'classic 90's' sounding. After 'A man called E' Mr E came out with 'Broken Toy Shop'. It feat 14 tracks including Manchester Girl that was later released as b-side on one of their singles from beautiful freak and also played on the bbc radio 1 sessions. I would highly advice Eels fans to get this album but beware, pay no more than say 15 pounds. This album is alot lighter than beautiful freak and but also kind of much more playable. There are around 4 stand-out tracks but not 1 bad track. There is also a really personal track feat Es deceased sister on it, (at least im sure it must be?). This man is a genius, a real human being who feels the crap that this world can throw at us but somehow makes it into beatiful, painful sounds. Early works from EELS
If you are a fan of EELS you should try and pick up E's first two albums. Broken Toy Shop is the second of these and while not as complete as some EELS albums it does give an indication of his future music style. The firt solo album E is widely available but this one is somewhat rare but worth picking up if you can.
