Additional Information
Nothing has changed in Milagro, New Mexico, for 300 years. Then, one day, Joe Mondragon kicks the off-limits community water pipe and begins to irrigate the cracked, dry ground that was once his father's beanfield. The developers of a new luxury recreation area--which is sure to force the natives away--are none too pleased by Joe's actions, and a culture clash ensues between Milagro's colourful, quirky residents and the authorities. The film is based on the novel by John Nichols.

    Comedy, drama with a happy ending

    A beautifully acted and directed little known movie about how a small New Mexico town is threatened by a large golf complex, one guy refuses to sell up his field and a battle ensues, this stand unites the town folk leading to a nail biting finale where for once the little guy wins. Directed by no other than Robert Redford.

    Milagro Beanfield War

    I had seen this years ago and thought it was a nice movie. I like the magical realism aspect of it. Robert Redford directed it. Its a nice gentle feelgood wee film.
