    Solid processor upgrade for a work horse notebook computer.

    I had to install a new motherboard for my workhorse ProBook 4540. Since I had to acquire a motherboard, I was determined to look into a processor upgrade (from an I5 to an I7). This processor, upped my core count from 4 to 8. Now this old workhorse competes with my colleagues brand new notebooks out of the box. I am very happy with the performance. This processor breathed renew life into my notebook.

    An inexpensive upgrade with major results.

    I bought a used Intel Core i7-3612QM to upgrade a Lenovo Thinkpad e430, which was originally equipped with an Core i3. The installation was not difficult, but use thermal paste and make sure the processor is compatible with your motherboard and bios (consult a tutorial if you've never done it before). The result in my case was significant. Prior to the upgrade, the computer was almost unusable; now it's working just fine.
