In 1986, Graceland sold 14 million copies worldwide and garnered both the Album and Song of the Year Grammy in 1987. Simon and the members of Ladysmith Black Mambazo performed on Saturday Night Live and appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone. It generated three hit singles and it kept Paul Simon and the Graceland tour on the road for five years. It's music was heard across the globe. Today, it's music and it's reputation still reach generations of music enthusiasts yet so many are unaware of how pivotal that one album was during the 1980 s, how it helped birth the idea of World Music and revived the career of one of America's most important songwriters. How it influenced the political progress of South Africa a country divided by institutionalized racism, causing and then transcending years of controversy. How in fact the album came to be in the first place.

    Great Sounding Vinyl!

    This vinyl album sounds fantastic! I have owned the CD for years and thought I knew what this album sounded like. But I like it much better on vinyl and this particular pressing just puts a big smile on my face when listening.

    DO NOT BUY. Defective printing, needle skips and gets stuck.

    Do not buy this album. I was excited about the price, and that it was new, so I expected a perfect vinyl. The album came shrink wrapped, but the inner sleeve was torn. More importantly, THE RECORD DOES NOT PLAY WELL. I don't know if it was used and damaged or is a defective printing, but there are many places where it skips and two places where the needle gets stuck and just skips the same spot over and over until I move the needle. This was the case from the very first listen, right out of the box, on a new record player. NOT AS ADVERTISED and not worth any money since you can't even listen to it.

    Great graceland

    Great 180g pressing of a monumental album. I had the pleasure to see Paul Simon and the Graceland band at the time the original release came out (two days after the famed Central Park show) in Hershey pa.

    Great Paul Simon album AGAIN!

    This is arguably the best music ever recorded by Simon, I lost my original album a few years ago in a military move....I have missed listening to it ever since. Now, I finally found a new vinyl album----so nice to hear it again!!
