About this product
Product Information
Professor Ballantyne urges anyone who wants to do business in the Arab countries to acquaint themselves, from the very first, with the facts of the legal position there, rather than rely on what others tell them to be the case on the basis of the way in which the law has, or has not, been enforced in the past. It is essential to conduct business on the basis of a water-tight contract, drawn in Arabic, which includes, where appropriate, clauses concerning arbitration and choice of law which do not conflict with any enactment in the local law which may exclude the efficacy of these clauses, and which takes advantage of any concessions or exemptions which may be available. Also, business people in Arab countries are urged to be extremely careful in choosing local representatives, companies or directors, and to ensure that the terms they lay down about the control that their shareholders exercise are observed. In this essential volume, which gathers together many of Professor Ballantyne's earlier writings along with essays on recent developments, the background for such an exercise of prudence is provided to the reader. The book is indispensable to businessmen comtemplating doing business in the Arab world, and to students of Arab commercial life. Professor Ballantyne is also the author of Commercial Law in the Arab Middle East and Legal Development in Arabia.

- s***s (2970)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseCondition excellent, as described, well packaged, dispatched promptly.Excellent communication from seller. Arrived ahead of anticipated delivery dates. ARRIVED 1st May, expectected between 24th May and 3rd June. Thank you. No import tax payable. A very pleasing experience. Would recommend this seller. A book l have been seeking to replace for 7 years after it got misplaced when moving house after bereavement.
- a***l (338)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseAlthough the description details were misleading, the customer support was rather good. I ordered the 2-volume set of ‘Atlas Shrugged’, but received a single volume. It might not seem like much to others, but it’s a large book and a 2-set volume would have made it easier to read. In addition, poor packaging damaged the DJ. Anyways, after sending firm, yet precise and polite emails, the situation was promptly resolved, hence the positive feedback; and, why I would buy again from the seller. 👍
- c***r (537)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseBook as specified, rapid delivery (from USA to UK), and a reasonable price for the book. Overall, my book arrived in "ok quality" packaging. A padded "book mailer" envelope was used. However, inside, there was no other protective packaging. One small point of constructive feedback: perhaps cardboard packaging could have been implemented, as a number of competing book sellers are now implementing cardboard packaging, especially for higher price books subject to international delivery.
