Superb. Grab one while you still can.

I think Olympus M4/3 cameras are superb. The menu system can be daunting at first, and some of the firmware doesn't work as well as it should, but when paired with a decent 'Pro' lens the results are great and the cameras are lovely things to use when compared to the other big brands. The high resolution mode give pin sharp results (with a good lens), but in most other respects the cheaper M10 is just as good so it offers better value (even if not weatherproof). A full frame camera would be better for astrophotography or very high quality portrait work, but for everything else the M4/3 format is ideal. APS sensors offer about a 1 stop improvement in noise, but the Olympus image stabiliser makes up for that by allowing lower ISO settings to be used. When choosing an Olympus, take a ...

  • Huge improvement over mk1

I had the original E-M5 and this model fixes almost every niggle I had with that one. The only remaining issue is the grip, if they could use the same style grip as the E-M1 it would be close to perfect. Its not an easy camera to use because there is just so much going on and that inevitably brings complexity. And the Olympus menu's are notoriously convoluted. For day to day work you set it up and never need the menus, easy. But the minute you want to use the power features such as focus bracketing or the live bulb etc you need the menus. But the bottom line is that this camera does everything I need and more and delivers good quality images both in stills and video.

  • Superb field tool

I am a wildlife photographer and have been for 52 years. This camera, with the OM 300 F4.0, is the best field combination I have ever used. The image processing, internal 5 axis stab and superb quality of construction of this camera delivered thousands of razor sharp images during a recent three week safari in Zambia. The 300 F4.0 is a ridiculously good super telephoto too. A huge benefit of this camera and the MFT system is the amazing power to produce great images at much smaller weight and volumes than APSC (and of course full frame). I have sold all my APSC gear. I retain my full frame kit for specialist purposes (especially when need I expansive dynamic range) but for work in the field I am fully converted to MFT, of which the OMD EM5 Mk2 is a centre piece. Highly recommended. ...

  • Just Brill!

This camera puts the fun back into photography for me. Its so small and compact that it just it makes it so easy to take everywhere you go - from family snapping to landscapes and town/city shots. Coupled with one zoom lens it is just... good fun to use. Image quality is spot on. Exposure and focusing is spot on. Battery life is probably the only gripe I have - you need to buy a back-up one and carry it charged ready to use - as it does run through batteries fairly quickly. Video's are good as well. I've a big 'proper' DSLR - but this is out with me most days!!

  • Love this camera, makes me exited about photography again!

Camera is packed with so many features and customisation options that it will keep you interested and busy for a while, giving you a chance to explore different styles of photography (HDR, Hi-rez product photography, silent shutter street shooting, vintage filters, live bulb for easy long exposures, Excellent focus peaking functions to use with those vintage manual lenses you might want to use with an adaptor and more! Also the incredible in camera image stabilisation will give you ability to shoot sharp images at incredibly low shutter speeds! Benefits from weather sealing, and coupled with light weight make it a perfect travel companion. And it comes with a free bounce hot-shoe flash! The only draw back is the battery life, will last about 300 shots, just get an extra battery and life ...
