The comic was not listed as "adequate" (i.e. 'acceptable). The seller notes asked buyers to ignore eBay's grading system and use the grade given in the listing title. It also asked buyers to allow potential deviation from the advertised grade and for the buyer to examine the photos in full. The advertised grade of the comic is as described - a VG+ does allow for that small tear.
