Harryhausen at his Best!
I am a big fan of Ray Harryhausen, and would still rather watch one of his films than most of the fantasy films out now. There is something magical in knowing that one man, using stop-motion models and primitive optical magic, was able to breath life into his many incredible fantasy creatures and take us to other worlds. The moment when Talos turns his head as he comes alive is still one of the most powerful and surprising moments from my film memories, and the fighting skeleton sequence, with the incredible Bernard Herrmann music, is a wonder to experience. A Stop-Motion Masterpiece
This is state-of-the-art special effects for the time period. Although the DVD was produced in 1998, the film was released in the early 1960's. Ray Haryhousen is a master of stop-motion animation and he gets pretty close to realism. It's a fun movie especially if you're a fan of Greek mythology. I was a little girl when i first saw it and it was awesome to see the stories I loved brought to life.
