Good commentary, with practical insights, relevant cultural context and comparisons to today.
This is a great commentary. The beginning (being this is the first book) gives an outline of the premise of the Commentary and that he is coming at it from the belief that the Bible is true. He outlines a few other things, but I think getting some of the fundamentals of what the purpose is, is kind of helpful. The commentary expounds on some of the things in the scripture that may leave us scratching our head. I am also reading a Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible in conjunction with this and I am trying to pair the Bible with the related commentary book. Guzik is fairly well rounded in his treatment of the scripture and he quotes other well-known Bible scholars in the commentary, so it's not solely him. This is the first commentary I've been reading. I started in Revelation and then went to Genesis. If you want a deeper dive on scripture, I'd recommend Guzik.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
