Private investigator Gittes runs a sleazy detective agency. When a client (Diane Ladd) hires him to spy on her "husband," who is rumored to be having an affair with a younger woman, Jake uncovers a plot against the man--but this is only the tip of the iceberg. Still to emerge are a sex scandal implicating the real wife (Faye Dunaway), with whom Jake is destined to become more closely acquainted, and a real estate swindle of tremendous proportions devised by her tycoon father (John Huston), backed up by a vast network of corrupt city officials and landowners who make life hell for the private eye.This story crystallizes the impact of a chance meeting with the romantic ideals of the early 1970s, when the American urban landscape and economic power structures were in flux.

    Bleak and Shocking

    Intriguing mystery full of dark conspiracy. Roman Polanski’s neo-noir mystery Chinatown (1974) is a pessimistic look into the underbelly of high crimes in L.A. Polanski directs Chinatown with a gritty eye for the most seedy locations, haunting atmosphere, and suspenseful angles. You never know who will say what or when someone will appear. Chinatown is all about driving around L.A. looking for answers to questions interviewees don’t want asked. Polanski is so bold in his vision, but also bold in his subject matter considering who he is as a person. I should warn viewers that Chinatown takes several turns into dark material that may sit ill with some viewers.     Chinatown blu ray

    First time seeing this Neo Noor film, therefore this film is a true masterpiece. This film inspired many film noirs that were done after. Just like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly did to many spaghetti western later repeases. Chinatown is a really great superior film to watch.
