    TRUTH has proven FAR more Frightening than Fiction!

    I sure wish ANYONE would have taken John Carpenter seriously. This was to have been a cautionary tale, not a "How-To." Thanks to collective educational impoverishment, apathy, and ignorance, this movie currently needs to be re-shelved to the "DOCUMENTARY" section. Visitors now currently occupy all levels of Supervisory Leadership positions in the United States. Here in real life, all of John Nada's attempts have been unsuccessful. Frank Armitage STILL REFUSES to put on the glasses!

    Great sci-fi/horror classic

    Great movie! It's a little comical to see "Rowdy" Roddy Piper as a main character but he plays a great role. Another classic by John Carpenter. I have a tendency to look into things a little different myself and it was refreshing to watch a movie with a different view on things in the world. Highly recommend watching

    A counter-culture classic!

    "They Live" is a must see for any fan of films like "The Matrix," or even "12 Monkeys" or "Brazil." A classic counter-culture piece, and a scathing and perhaps cynical social criticism, masquerading as a sci-fi horror flick. It points out the phony, superficial facade of our modern materialist culture, and the control system of the power elite, keeping the middle and lower classes busy and distracted, happily turning our hamster wheels to generate wealth for them. On the surface, the hero, played by Rowdy Roddy Piper, finds a pair od specially designed sunglasses that let him see through the mind-altering, consciousness/awareness blocking mind-control signal broadcast by an alien race who has taken over control of human society in secret and uses us as livestock.     Really Entertaining

    This movie has become a meme in some places on the internet. It's about "class division" and the "glasses" give the main character a view into "reality." A very similar metaphor between the pills Neo is presented from Morpheus in The Matrix. Rowdy Roddy Piper wasn't a great actor by any stretch of the imagination but he somehow pulled off being an everyday joe and superhero pretty convincingly in this film. It's somehow simple and complex at the same time...
