    Engrossing Revolutionary War tale, though not historica

    I have been a Mel Gibson fan since his very good Mad Max and his horrible Summer City. I loved this movie and it is in my top ten favorites of all time. Mel is very believable as Benjamin Martin who fights only after he looses one son to death and one son to the army. Heath Ledger plays Gabriel Martin who goes to fight for his country despite his father's protests. I know that not all of the facts are historically correct but this is a movie and did not claim to be a history lesson. The period is portrayed very well and the battle scenes are so well done that you almost feel you are there. This movie is very graphic in the battles and if you do not like the sight of blood and other realistic battle scenes then this might not be the movie for you. I watched the entire movie and did not ...

    A 1st Class Movie!

    "The Patriot" is loosley based on the true story of Francis "The Swamp Fox" Marion during the American Revolution. Photography was outstanding! The acting by everyone was 1st class. Of particular note in this DVD movie (North American format, 2002 issue) was the costumes & props - the persons in charge did a fantastic job! It seems like extra effort was put into this movie. Definately belongs in the collection of a historian or militaria collector. Personally, I see nothing wrong with school age children seeing it but the parent needs to review it first to make sure. Well worth the price!

    The patriot- soon to be a classic

    Mel Gibson at His best. This portrait of that time period was excellent, Story was great- It kept you interested until the end. A favorite of mine for my 4th of July line up. But its good anytime.

    The Patriot (2002, DVD)

    I love Heath Ledger and Mel Gibson. Both men were outstanding. This movie brings a history lesson to life.. A+++++++++++++++

    Good Movie

    After all the hype I expected more. Gibson is not a favorite actor but I was not impressed. Don’t get me wrong it is a good movie. Perhaps the hype made me expect more .
